COP26 leaders conference opening

Commonwealth leaders cut a high profile at the [Conference of the Parties] COP26 Summit in Glasgow at the start of week one. Thirty-two Commonwealth small states are among the most vulnerable in the world, with some small island states on the verge of disappearance. Leaders of small island states spoke out at both the main COP26 venues and at the Commonwealth pavilion sited at the Glasgow complex.

As leaders returned home, leaving officials to work out the details of global climate change agreements, we provide a round-up of the key platforms on which Commonwealth leaders laid out their needs, plans and climate ambitions at the start of COP26.

DAY ONE

The Commonwealth Pavilion invited leaders to its #CommonwealthForClimate event on the first morning of the COP.
